When Finland’s AMORPHIS formed in 1990, none of its participants could fathom the mega-success that would later follow. Initially, the band skillfully paid tribute to the death metal boom of the time. Second album, “Tales From The Thousand Lakes” released in 1994 as well as its no less inspiring 1996 successor „Elegy“ remain pivotal releases among the melodic death metal movement. With their intricate fusion of death metal, doom, melancholic melodies and Nordic folklore, AMORPHIS manifested a sound that remains compelling to this day. With the debut of singer Tomi Joutsen, AMORPHIS opened a new era with 2006’s stunning „Eclipse“ full-length ultimately extending to their still-current mastework „Queen Of Time“ (2018). Through the years, AMORPHIS has delivered one album highlight after the next often copied by many contenders, but never successfully achieves. Since their ost recent stroke of genius, fans fervently await another studio album – which the Finns will release under the title „Halo“ in February 2022!
